What makes the North Fork so special ?
Q. What makes the North Fork of the White so great when compared to such rivers as the Current, Jack’s Fork, or Eleven Point.
A. It has a narrower river valley, more rocky bottom, short-leaf (native) pines coming down to the river in several places. A bottom of bedrock, with gravel piles occasionally in lines. A shallow line of weeds, backed but by ferns and low rocks bluffs, then the deep valley climbs quickly to the ridge top. It is as spring fed as the Current and therefore reaches the same or higher levels or clarity. The north Fork bottom is made of a thousand colors because of the huge variety of aquatic plants.
